Damage and theft in criminal incidents

Police are investigating two incidents, one in which damage was caused to the Spar store in Newtown and another of theft from the Spar in Carno.

Police have appealed for witnesses who might know something about or can identify an offender involved in damage to the window shutters at the Spar in Broad Street, Newtown.

The incident happened on the 22nd August at around 11.30pm.

"An unknown male has thrown himself into the Spar's shutters therefore damaging them and then running off with a group of friends towards the Castle Vaults pub."

Meanwhile two men are being sought after a theft at the Spar in Carno.

Sometime between 6pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday, 25th August a number of items were stolen from the store.

“Two male suspects made off in a blue Peugeot estate car,” said a police spokesperson.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen the vehicle travelling in the area is asked to contact PC Greenwood at Newtown Police Station on 101.”
