The National Eisteddfod opens in Meifod on Saturday and its impact will be felt throughout the area.
Thousands of visitors will be heading to the area over the next week and many of these will be travelling from South and West Wales through Newtown, adding to the tourists visiting the area.
The National Eisteddfod is one of Wales' top cultural events and is well known internationally.
Organisers say they are expecting bumper crowds throughout the event and have asked visitors to use the "yellow sign" routes to reach the parking areas around the "Maes" near Meifod.
A number of high profile guests and personalities will be attending the event, from First Minister Carwyn Jones, to BBC's The One Show presenter, Alex Jones.
