23/07/2015 @ 02:00

A Llanfair Caereinion man and his twin brother from Llanfyllin have been given a civic award for their work in the community.

John Ellis from Llanfair Caereinion and Tom Ellis from Llanfyllin were presented with Silver Kite Awards from the Chairman of Powys County Council, Cllr Paul Ashton.

Their award nomination praised their many decades of of selfless-service to their respective communities.

This includes over 40 years' service working at their respective secondary schools where they not only undertook their teaching responsibilities, but gave up their free time to run numerous sports clubs and activities for the benefit of the pupils.

They give their time to help local football teams, leisure centre management groups, YFC, Eisteddfods and other community activities.

The twins are both lay preachers.

Tom has served for two decades as a community councillor. John also helped establish COBRA rugby club in Llanfair.

Presenting the twins with their awards, Cllr Paul Ashton said: "I am delighted to recognise both John and Tom.

“These awards are in tribute to their excellent and service to communities in Powys."
