16-year-old Newtown schoolgirl is missing

Concern is growing for a 16-year-old Newtown schoolgirl who failed to return home from school.

Cheyanne Wilton was due to return home from Newtown High School yesterday afternoon, but never appeared.

Police said they are concerned for her welfare and have appealed for anyone who might have seen her leave school or since to call them on 101.

"She did not return home from school in Newtown as expected yesterday afternoon. 

"She was last seen wearing her school uniform, with a grey hoody and black leather jacket, and white trainers," said a Newtown Police spokesperson.

"She also had a white shoulder bag. Cheyanne is approximately 4’11 tall, and has blonde hair and a fair complexion."  

Anyone with any information, or anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact police on 101.
