15/12/2014 @ 08:59

A woman has been plucked from the fast-flowing River Severn today by firefighters who used specialist gear to reach her.

The emergency services were called after a woman was reported as being in the river at around 1.30am.

Firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service's Newtown, Welshpool and Aberystwyth stations were called to the scene.

The crews from Welshpool and Aberystwyth have access to specialist water rescue equipment and boats.

It is understood they used wading equipment and a boat to reach her in the river between Milford Road and Dolerw Park.

The age of the woman is not known, although she was taken by ambulance to hospital for check ups. Her condition is not known.
