Businesses in Newtown that employ local retained firefighters are to be thanked with a special civic award.
Newtown Town Council is to present awards to local businesses that allow employees to give up their time to support their duty with often dangerous and life saving work with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
“The award recognises how important it is to employ and support retained fire fighters in our community and it couldn’t come at a more poignant time,” said a town council spokesperson.
The annual award will be presented to the employers at the Mayor Making ceremony in July.
