Best kept gardens revealed

Council tenants from throughout Montgomeryshire are among those two win prizes in the annual Powys County Council garden competition.

Mr and Mrs P Matthews of The Gardens in Kerry won the Best Kept Senior Citizen Garden prize in Powys.

Mr W.R.G. Morgan of Pengeulan, Llanidloes won the Best Kept Vegetable Garden in Powys 

Mr J.G. Edwards, Ffordd Croesawdy, Newtown, won the Montgomeryshire Best Kept Garden prize with Mr and Mrs Matthews taking the Brest Kept Senior Citizens Garden prize in Montgomeryshire.

The Best Kept Estate in Montgomeryshire went to Y Berllan, Llangedwyn.

Best Kept Senior Citizens Estate in Montgomeryshire was  Brynteg, Bettws.

Best Vegetable Garden, Mr  W.R.G. Morgan, Penguelan, Llanidloes; Best Hanging Basket or Containers, Mrs D. Jones, Hafan Deg, Llanfair Caereinion; Most Bee Friendly Garden, Mrs G. Avery, Bryncelyn, Llansilin.

Cllr Rosemarie Harris, Cabinet Member for Housing Services, said: “I would like to congratulate all those who have won prizes but also thank all those who put nominations forward and helped made this year’s competition a great success.

“Judging this year was extremely difficult because of the high quality of the gardens. A lot of tenants have worked hard on their gardens and this year’s competition has recognised their achievements.”
