Fire crews from Llanidloes and Welshpool had to rescue a man from a river last night.
The crews were called out to an incident on the River Wye near Llangurig at around 5.30pm following reports that as child and a man were in trouble on the river.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue today confirmed they were involved in an incident and had to use ladders and rope to reach a man in the river.
A child was rescued prior to the arrival of the fire crews.
It is not known what condition the pair are in, although they were conveyed to hospital by ambulance.
The swift water boat from Welshpool was used downstream to act as additional safety while the man was rescued by firefighters from Llanidloes, Welshpool and Aberystwyth.
