The search is on for volunteer police cadets in Newtown.
How would you like to learn about the role of a police officer and be involved in providing a service to the local community?
Dyfed-Powys Police are recruiting for Volunteer Police Cadets to join in September 2016 following the success of the first pilot year.
Applications will be considered from pupils that will be in Year 10 or 11 in September 2016.
The Cadet Unit will be based at Newtown High School and meet on a Wednesday evening.
“As a volunteer Police Cadet, you will be given a unique insight into how the Police Service works. You’ll be given a uniform and will learn all about police powers and procedures, take part in competitions and assist and influence local policing teams on improving the service we provide to our communities,” said PCSO Aileen Stewart of Newtown Police.
“But it’s not all about policing. The Volunteer Police Cadets are the only uniform youth group who’s young people aim to volunteer an average of three hours per month working in their communities on crime prevention and social action projects.
“As a Volunteer Police Cadet you will be offered the opportunity to improve your communication and leadership skills, gain awards and qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.”
