Four men arrested over "Aunty Blanche" assault

Police today confirmed that four men have been arrested and questioned over the brutal attack of an 88-year-old woman at her home Dolfor, near Newtown last week.

Blanche Rowlands was attacked in her home last Monday in what police described as a "brutal" incident.

She was taken to hospital where her condition was stable before she was released late last week.

Her family, including nephew Mervyn Lloyd Jones from Lower Brimmon, appealed for people to come forward with any information. Police also asked motorists who had driven along Upper Dolfor Road between 9am and 5pm last Monday to send them their dash-cam video in case it helped with their inquiries.

It its understood four men were arrested over the weekend and have been questioned at Newtown Police Station.

A police spokesperson said: “Dyfed Powys Police confirm that four men have been arrested and the investigation remains in progress regarding the serious assault on an 88-year-old woman in Dolfor, near Newtown on Monday 19th June 2017.
 
“Police are grateful for the public response in respect of this incident and urge for anyone with information to contact Dyfed Powys Police on 101 or anonymously on crime stoppers.”
