Birthday celebrations for market hall

29/07/2016 @ 09:48

Newtown's Market Hall will celebrate a year since it re-opened from its refurbishment next week.

The Victorian building which sits between High Street and Market Street re-opened last year after it was taken over by the Mid Wales Food and Land Trust.

It had previously been under threat of closure by Powys County Council until a rescue plan was put in place and the council came to an arrangement to lease it to the Trust to take it over, refurbish and run it.

On Tuesday (2 August) and through to Saturday, the Market Hall traders and the Trust will host celebrations marking the 1st anniversary since it re-opened.

Activities are planned throughout the week as well as a Meccano exhibition.

There will also be local food and produce for sale with Cultivate.

The Cafe Glanhafren will also offer a pensioners party special on Wednesday, with cake and tea.
