23/02/2015 @ 11:41

Over 130 modern and historic rally cars are to begin this year's Mid Wales Stages rally from Broad Street in Newtown on Sunday morning.

The competitors will begin the first special stage of the day, the Pikes Peak, from 9am.

Organised by Newtown and District Automobile Club Ltd, the rally has attracted a large entry of competitors from the local area and throughout the UK.

In addition to the competing cars, there will be a display of other vehicles for spectators to see.

The historic cars, including Porsche, Ford Escorts and others, will be the first to head out from Broad Street, followed by more modern vehicles.

Spectators can also watch the rally from special vantage points along the route, details of which are available at www.midwalesstages.co.uk.

Once the historic cars are on their way it will be the turn of the modern ones. Some of these are contenders for the Pirelli MSA Welsh Stage Rally Championship.

The first cars are due back at the rally HQ at Hafren's car park in Llanidloes Road at 2.45pm.
