Nigel still looking for your help

A Montgomery man, planning a 1,025 mile trek around Wales to raise funds for Cancer Research, still needs your help.

 Nigel Picken will set off next Summer but needs to recruit a support team and start the fund raising process as he is out of the country for the next four months.

He plans to start from his home town of Montgomery, following Offa’s Dyke to Prestatyn and then around the Wales coast as far as Chepstow before returning to Montgomery.

But with time running out he is appealing for helpers to come forward to be part of his support team and also to help raise funds.

“I’m looking for help in all areas really,” he said. “I need a back-up team, particularly as I am going to be away until May and I need people to help me attract funding and support from people and companies right across Wales.

“I call it “paying It Forward”. Thankfully no-one in my family is affected by cancer but who knows what is around the corner and we need to raise as much money as possible to help fight this terrible disease.”

Nigel emphasised that every penny raised will go to Cancer Research. “None of the funds will be used to finance the walk. I was doing it anyway, it’s my hobby. But this is a great chance to help the fight against cancer.”

Currently in the Philippines Nigel is training five hours per day for the walk, starting out at 5am to avoid the heat.
