Businesses in Newtown, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanidloes, Montgomery and Welshpool are being given the opportunity to apply for a voucher which will help them connect to superfast broadband.

The Broadband Connection Voucher Scheme was established to assist businesses and third sector organisations to meet the upfront capital costs of installing a high speed broadband connection to their premises.

Now the scheme has been expanded to include businesses and third sector organisations that are based in the main Powys towns.

Applicants can apply for funding for the capital costs of installing a new broadband connection directly to a premises in order to access high speed connectivity and capability.

Monthly service charges are excluded from the scheme.

Sue Bolter, the council’s Head of Regeneration Property and Commissioning, said: “High-speed, high-quality broadband will ensures that businesses increase efficiency and enhance revenues which will help them maintain a competitive edge in their market.

“Broadband is increasingly vital for business development and growth but installations costs can be costly.

“I’m delighted that this scheme has been extended into the main towns in the county, which will cover the installation costs for businesses who want to connect to high-speed broadband.”

If you are a Small or Medium Sized Enterprise (SME), a third sector organisation, a sole trader or have a home office and are based in one of the main Powys town, you could be eligible under this scheme.
